The significant arrival and spread of Persian words in various languages in different periods of time is an important topic in the fields of etymology and historical linguistics. Persian is among many languages which have lent many words mostly indirectly to European languages including English. The study of these words provides a clear picture of the civilization, culture and social and historical events ofIran. In this paper, with the aid of a corpus derived from a comprehensive etymological study of English words borrowed from Persian, specifically through a descriptive and analytic study, the transfer and spread of four Persian words used in chess which are common in current English are analyzed and their phonetic and semantic changes are considered.
